The King and the Clown

The movie 'King and the Clown' is a work directed by Lee Jun-ik, released in 2005, and features Kim Woo-sung, Lee Jun-ki, Jung Jin-young, and Kang Seong-yeon.

Set in the Joseon Dynasty, Yeonsangun turns the palace into a sea of blood when he learns that his birth mother was killed due to a secret struggle between the queens during the reign of King Seon through a Namsadang troupe performance.

For this reason, it is a story in which the vassals plan and proceed with a conspiracy to eliminate the clown.

Although based on historical facts, this film provides fun with fictional elements and witty lines, and was highly praised by the audience for the excellent acting of the actors.

 

Awards include the 2006 Grand Bell Awards, the Korean Film Awards, and the 2007 Deauville Asian Film Festival, as well as numerous other awards.
